Christmas Cheer!

Yes, that's right. It's July, but I'm doing a Christmas Cheer post. I have waited long enough. After all, it's only 5 months away, and so we need to be getting ready. So to get everyone in the spirit early, I've decided to highlight a few of my favorite representations of Christmas. If you're one of those who does NOT celebrate until December (i.e. my husband), this post is not for you. For everyone else, here they are!

First of all, I love the images of a colonial Christmas. I don't know what it is....it's just the perfect setting to me. I think I would adore Colonial Williamsburg at Christmas. I loved it when it wasn't Christmas! These are so wonderful:

And of course....the Nutcracker! I enjoy going to the ballet, but just listening to the music at home is wonderful. When the overture comes on, it's just beautiful.

So here is something that I have come to appreciate and love in Jackson:
Yes, Mistletoe Marketplace is one of my very favorite events. First, it comes in November, which gets everyone in the spirit early. Second, the vendors are really unique. Expensive, but unique. I think I might treat myself this year to one or two things, just because. I think I'll start saving. It's just a wonderful experience.

Christmas fireplaces!!! There is nothing better than a fireplace and a Christmas tree.

And then we have the wonderful television specials, including (but NOT limited to)

Celtic Woman Christmas Celebration. I still have this on my DVR from last Christmas and watch it all the time. Combining Celtic music and Christmas is just.....perfect.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town! A classic, and probably my favorite of the original Christmas specials.

And you can't forget Rudolph! So adorable....

My favorite Christmas movie:

And then there's Santa...
Part of me will always believe in him :o)

And then there's Jesus.....

Leave it to Him to have a birthday on the best holiday ever :o) And my whole soul believes in Him!
Merry Christmas, just a little early :o)

Ashley,

Do you guys still have that palm tree i emailed you about a while ago?

Hey Aliya!
I emailed you awhile ago about it...I'm sure we just got our wires crossed or you didn't get my email for some reason. Since I hadn't heard from you, my dad took it to the Goodwill on Hwy 51 in Madison. I don't think it was that long ago that he took it, if you still want to try and track it down. I'm sorry you have to go hunting for it, but it might still be there!

Thats okay. We must have just gotten our wires crossed or since I work for this huge company the email might not have come through but I think that now she wants baby blue and chocolate brown. I was wondering if you are Kurt are going to be looking for any gently used baby items? My "baby" recently turned one and now doesn't use the swing which is gender neutral or the rainforest jumper or vibrating bouncy seat.

It's so funny that you just posted about Christmas-yesterday I was singing Christmas songs and Shawn rolled his eyes at me and told that Christmas is months away. He just doesn't understand that it's important to get ready early :) I'm glad you understand that Christmas in July is perfectly acceptable!

I love this post! I love Christmas too. Especially an old fashioned Christmas, with Bing Crosby and all the old songs. I love your colonial pictures. -I miss having a fire place, but we will someday again. I also love going to see the Nutcracker and Handel's Messiah at Christmas.~ Blessings!

The Christmas music on your playlist was perfect while reading your post! I have been listening to Christmas music and pulling out the Christmas movies while Trevor is at work. He likes Christmas but is definitely one to not want to think about it or pull it out until the day after Thanksgiving. :)

I was just wondering why you don't think very highly of the Junior League? We do a lot of GREAT things for the communitey like the Children's Museum, and of course we bring Mistletoe. I just don't understand why some people have negative thoughts toward the Junior League. It really is wonderful, and I think you would enjoy it.

Hey Lilly,
When I re-read that, I realized it sounded really rude, and I didn't mean for it to! I'm just not originally from the south, and before I moved here I read this really old-school book about southern traditions, like the junior league, and I got made fun of because I didn't understand it all! So my friends knew what I meant, but I'm sorry that it came across that way. Yay for the Junior League! :o)

That is a happy post. I certainly do long for Christmas and warm fireplaces, after I have sat out at the pool sweating in the heat!!! UGH! I like warm weather, but that was just a little too much.

Oh, I so love Christmas in July!!! I used to start listening to Christmas music every year in about September. Then I started singin in Christmas pageants and had to listen to the musical selections and it ate into my other Christmas music... Is that nuts???? Anyway, I love Christmas! I miss Christmas sometimes....it is so busy that I can't appreciate what it used to be. I want Rivers to have the memories that I had growing up...it was a different time in some ways but I have a large part in her memories.... I don't always feel like we make the most of them. I really didn't mean to get into that....just wanted to say thank you for the memories...the music....oh, the smells...do you remember, too?
