I just had the funniest idea I think I've ever had.

Yes, it's 1:00 in the morning. But Kurt's on call, and this is when I tend to be a night owl.

Okay, so I was reading my friend Emily's blog, and she wrote about how she and her husband had a camping adventure recently to get away from the stress and noise of TV, computers, etc. I don't know if it's just hormones, a weird mood, or a need for relaxation, but it sounded really appealing to me.

Now, for those of you that know me, you probably wouldn't consider me an outdoorsy person. At all. Me neither.

So, taking a cue from a recent Jon and Kate Plus 8, I figured out my solution: "Camping" in the backyard!!!

Think about it. Convenient location, and restroom facilities (that are clean and familiar) are right inside.

We could grill hotdogs on our patio and just hang out outside, then spend the night in a tent in our backyard. Speaking of tent:
Tent: $50

Airbed: $50

We wouldn't need sleeping bags, because regular sheets fit, and we would just use regular blankets. I just think it would be fun to camp without technically camping. Is this not the most hilarious post of mine you've ever read?

Please don't tell me I'm stupid for wanting to do this or inform me of what camping equipment I need. I literally just want a change of scenery without technology, and it will make for a really funny story.

Pregnancy makes me crave....camping?!

Sounds like fun to me! I used to do it growing up. I'd have spend the night parites, and my girlfriends and I would sleep in a tent in my back yard. It was so much fun. Maybe you could even borrow a tent and air matress from a friend. Because if your hubby is anything like mine, that will help you avoid the whole conversation of why am I going to pay $100. to sleep in my own back yard, when I can sleep in my house for free. I'm telling you, I've learned to think ahead when trying to add a little spontineity to things, because I know my husband all too well. I think it could be a very romantic surprise for the two of you.

I was just talking to Jennifer about the four of us going camping, but honestly, I didn't think you would go for it. I am certain I wouldn't if I were pregnant. If you decide you like it, we are going to try to go camping in November. It would be great if y'all could come, too.

I think that would be wonderful! I used to do that when I was little with friends...we are thinking about doing that as a family soon!

Ha! I just laughed a great laugh because no one could have paid me to sleep outside in the heat while I was pregnant! But if you want to you better do it now! Can't wait to see your blog after! :)

This is cracking me up! I am SO not a camper, so I don't know if I could even handle backyard camping. At least if you hate it, you have the option of going inside and getting in your bed! :)

Ok, I saw the jon and kate episode and had the opposite reaction...why would they put themselves through that when they have perfectly good beds a few feet away...

I love it though. too cute.
