Christmas Tour 2008

Welcome to our home, decorated for Christmas!

If you are visiting for the first time, welcome to my blog :o) My husband and I have been married a year and a half, so this is our first home. I've had fun accumulating Christmas things and coming up with my "Christmas style," although it's subject to change any given year!

I take decorating very seriously; I went to school for interior design, so I'm always trying to find just the right way to put things up and make it look just the way I want it to. As our home(s) change over the years, I know my decorating style will too, Christmas and otherwise. Right now it's a blend of so many things: traditional, modern, a little vintage...and I like it that way!

Some highlights: The olive wood nativity from Israel, my modern(ish) entry table, the funky trees on the mantle, brown Christmas balls mixed with red ones in the mantle greenery to bring out the funky tree colors, and the vintage feel of the tree. In our bedroom, I added red sheets and red throw pillow, which I think will stay year-round now to tie in the red side tables (which I had always planned to paint but have never found the time!).

I hope that if you're not a regular reader, you'll come back and visit just for fun...I love finding out new people are reading my blog! Sidenote: if you keep scrolling down to the post just before this one, you'll see the latest pictures of me and my fabulous husband. So then we're not anonymous anymore! Also, if you are visiting for the first time or if you visit every day, I'm asking that you leave a comment--I'd love to hear from everyone on this post. Thanks a million!

Have a wonderful Christmas, and enjoy your cozy homes :o)

You've got some great modern touches. I've been trying to go a little more modern and a little less traditional. I may have to find some pointy trees like yours!

Beautiful. Came across your blog and I like what I see. Love your nativity scene. Our elf's name is Elfie, my now 6 yr old named him. He loves awaking every morning and finding him. Sometimes Elfie has cookie crumbs around him, he got into the cookie jar, and sometimes he brings a book for the children. There is not telling what Elfie has been up to. Again love your blog. I know in the years to come Christmas will be even more special for you and your husband and your children. Many blessings.

I love your decorations! My favorite is your entry table, with the bowl of ornaments. And your mantle is great too! How do you get the balls to stay? Did you set them in the garland or do you use hot glue?

Amy said...

Love the mantle! We started the "Elf on the Shelf" tradition this year with our three year old. He named him Larry and loves getting up everyday to find out where he is. Merry Christmas!

Your decorations are beautiful! I especially love the master bedroom. Could you please come help me with my home because I love your style? I love the nativity set! The little Christmas tree/cones are too cute. Is that an old record player that a few records was on top of? If it is I'm so jealous! Hope you have a wonderful and blessed Christmas!

Lilly---that's actually a new 4-in-1 record/CD/tape/radio player that my husband got me last Christmas. It's made to look like a vintage-style radio :o)

Paige--I got the whimsical trees at a specialty store here in Jackson, Annelle Primos!

Ashley said...

Oh, by the way Lilly...email me if you would really like some decorating help. I'm not an expert, but I did go to design school, so I can freelance!

I love your olive wood nativity! I have wanted one of those for years, but they are quite expensive. Or the ones I have seen are. I wish I could post pictures of my house but we haven't painted all the rooms yet and it wouldn't look so nice. I will next year though! Merry Christmas! : )

Beautiful! Love your mantle! And congrats on your baby on the way! The Christmases that I was pregnant were so special, I felt that I could relate more to the wonder Mary must have felt (though riding a donkey at 9 months prego does NOT sound very wonder-ful!) I am a first time visitor from BooMama's tour of homes. Thanks for sharing!
