Memorial Weekend and a Milestone

We've had a great weekend here at the Lancaster household! Kurt's mom (known as Mia to Evy) has been here, and we've had such a good time.

Saturday Kurt and I got to go on a DATE! We had lunch, went to Lifeway, and then Barnes and Noble (do you notice that my love for books always comes out on dates?). I literally want to burst with happiness when I'm in a bookstore. As my Poppy would say, "It's just a reminder of how much there is to learn, and how you'll never have the time to learn it all." But I love the challenge! Now that I have my sweet girl, I CAN'T WAIT to read to her all of the classics. Kurt and I plan to have a library in our house someday, so we're already collecting hardcover editions. I have been looking into the Little House on the Prairie series, Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea, Little Women...the list goes on and on. Here's what I got at B&N for Evy: more thing.....

The Unofficial Guide to NEW YORK CITY!!!!!!!!! That's right, I officially have a new trip to plan. Kurt and I will be going to one of my favorite cities in the fall of 2010. I know that sounds like forever away, but really it's not. I love when I have a good amount of time to plan a trip. I can read through the entire guidebook, and I go through with a highlighter and highlight the information that applies to us. It will make the actual booking/planning process SO much easier. This trip will celebrate Kurt's completion of residency. Even though he will still have to take his boards, residency will be DONE!!! Speaking of, every year residents take a practice test to prepare them for the boards. Kurt got his results back the other day. A score of 30ish means you shouldn't have to be worried about the official test, and Kurt made a 34!!!! The highest possible is in the low- to mid-40s range. I am SO proud of him!!

Today at church Evy went to the preschool area for the first time. She only went during the service, because Mrs. Pam took her home while we went to Lifegroup (Sunday School). She slept the whole time! We were so proud of her. I didn't realize how attached I've become to her; I missed her the whole time and it was difficult leaving her; not because I don't trust our preschool program---it's AMAZING. I just miss my little Bitson. Here are some pictures before church:

Evy has been loving her playmat (thanks, Lori!) lately. She loves to kick and her eyes get so bright when she gets excited. She has LOVED exercising with Mrs. Pam this weekend!

We reached a milestone today! We can tell Evy is itching to roll over, but just can't get the momentum yet. So I gave her a little push to help her, and when she landed on her tummy, she lifted her head right off the ground!!! She had only been able to hold her head up while on her Boppy pillow, not flat on the ground, so we were so excited. Oh, and bonus points for us---we got it on video AND still camera! Yessss.

What a beautiful, big girl! We love you!

Two of my all time favorite children's books! I've had them in my hand to buy several times just to already have :) Evy is just so gorgeous I could eat her up. We've got to see you all again, soon! Glad to hear your Memorial Day weekend was good!

Ohhh! Evy is SUCH a cutie! :-)

Pat the Bunny remains to be one of my kids favorite books. Good night moon is also another favorite. The Belly Button Book by Sandra Boyton is also one that I know by heart and treasure.

Yay for books and adorable Evy!

Good Night Moon was a favorite of both of my children. Do you have I'll Love you Forever? Soo good. I started building my children's library way back in KC,MO.~Before we ever had children. My husband thought I was crazy, because I seriously had a small four shelf book case of just children's books by the time we left. I now have them sorted by seasons and themes stored in great big tubs in our basement -(that's the teacher comming out in me,) and I rotate them out. I have a small book shelf in their room, and basket of books in the living room always accessable to them. And Anna Grace loves to read. She loves to sit quietly with her books or even bring you 2 or 3 to read to her. It makes my heart swell to see her enjoy reading as much as me. And I love being able to help develop and nuture her love of literature.

Have you been to NY before? I loved it. It truly lived up to all my expectations. Y'all are going to have so much fun. Our plan, as of right now, is to go back to St. Thomas for a second honeymoon and to celebrate the end of residency. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that with moving and all it will work out for us to go :)

Ashely- is an awesome website that essentially allows one to take pictures from whatever website she wants and create her own picture from it. It's kind of like the same software magazines use to build pages. One can even use it to decorate a room!!! Yeah. Seriously my thing EVER! I don't remember how I stumbled upon it, but I'm an addict.

My page is and you can create you own account and start building either from items you've found yourself or from the millions of items already uploaded to polyvore.

I can't wait to see what you create!

PS, Clay just asked me who that cute baby was and I told him it was Evy. He said, "Oh, Mama! You should name your baby Evy!!" :-)

Ahh, I LOVE the Anne of Green Gables books!! All 8 of them! You've made me want to read them again... for about the 10th time. Haha. That's great that Evy picked her head up -- yay! We're not too fond of tummy time around here either...

NYC is my favorite city on Earth! :) Have you ever been before? I have been on a girls' trip there for the past 5 years in a row and I have several good eating places, etc if you want them! I am a big-time planner with a detailed itinerary when we travel, so email me if you want any of my info...
