Tonight I went to Easely Amused, a painting studio where they walk you through a painting step by step. They are doing a short "Christmas in July" series, and although I would've loved to have done all of them, I got to paint "O Holy Night." I painted with my friends from church Jenny and Demetria, and it was SO much fun! I'm already planning to go back. Here's a progression of how things went. If you live in this area, go to Easely Amused! It's a blast!

Here are some new things in the house:
My dad's dad, who I call Dah, is a pastor but also a very talented carpenter. He made Evy and I these matching crosses from Nazarene wood in Jerusalem (Jesus was from Nazareth). What a priceless treasure!!

I found this light switch cover in Dallas and fell in love with it. The only problem: it doesn't fit any of my switches! So guess what I used? Command Strips! I stuck it right on the plate, and when we move I can take it with me. Love it!

I added a framed picture of Kurt and Evy and a Robert Lee Morris silver bowl from my Nana (see, she gives the best gifts!) to the guest room bedside table.

More in the guest room: I added an "L" and a new sign from Hobby Lobby ("Whatever is Noble, Right, Pure, Lovely...think on these things," Phil. 4:8). I brought in a framed picture of my great-grandparents (one of my favorites), stacked some of my coffee table books and put a collage of pictures of my great-grandmother on top (click those words to see more detail) and added one or two flameless candles. I really like how it turned out!

And lastly....this isn't new (well, we've had her 5 months), but I couldn't resist!

Please check out these slacks (as my mom and I like to call them):

Helping Mommy in the guest room!

Have a great day!----

I've been wanting to go to EA so bad! I think I'm going to do the New York painting since we are going to live in NYC one day!
Aww! I am so sorry I missed the girls night out. I didn't find out about it until Tuesday and Brie said the class was already full :( I really need a Mommy night out so if you are going again, let me know. As always, Evy is just the sweetest!
Is Easely Amused new? I wish I had know about it when I was in MS. I even saw a class that I would just love to take. I like the Poppy painting class. Too bad I'm not living in MS :(
awwwww, the paintings turned out so cute!! ashley, i loved sitting by you and paiting! so much fun! i really really HOPE i can make another trip soon! and DEMETRIA, you are just crazy girl. hehe. love both of yall!
How cool! I wonder if there is a place like that in St. Louis. I'm not very good at painting, so I need someone to walk my through step by step. I love the O Holy Night theme too!
Your groups paintings turned out so well! Easily Amused definitely looks like a lot of fun. :)
I love reading about all of the little additions you make to your house. Thanks for sharing!
Ohh, I love that bowl and I like what you've done on the tables. I think it's great to have so many family pictures out. It really personalizes things.
Evy is so cute...
Yippie! I was able to read your blog today!! I ADORED catching up on what has been going on with you! Evy is AN ABSOLUTE DOLL FACE! I could just eat her up she is so precious!! And I adore all the new decorating! I have that exact same oval sign from Hobby Lobby! I love it! Have you seen the matching hooks they have with crowns on them at HL?
Love the picture you painted!
Looks good Ashley! Saw your comment on my blog. We call Evie so it rhymes with Chevy. How do you pronounce Evy? Everyone does it differently so we have had some confusion. Her name is Evelyn Claire but we just call her Evie.
OK, I am seriously, seriously jealous. I've seen EA on Suzanne's blog before, but, this picture. Uhh! I would do love to be able paint something like that for my babies' room for the Christmas season. ~So not fair that you and Dee and Jenny got to have such a fun girls night out. -No really this looks like so much fun! I can't wait to see it hung at Christmas. Blessings on your day!
I've been dying to go to Easely Amused! I love the painting you did! And Evy in her "slacks" -- Oh my gosh, TOO cute!!! I missed our lunch this week :(
Hey Ashley!!! I have been reading your blog since forever but could never figure out how to "follow" you (yes...sometimes I can be awfully technologically unsavvy)!!! Anyway - finally decided I wasn't quitting until I was an actual follower...and figured it out. Can't wait to see you guys sometime soon! Have a great weekend!
Your painting came out so well! I did something similar in New Orleans, but I didn't like the way mine came out at all.
