This was in preschool (Broken Arrow, Oklahoma), when life was fabulous and school only came twice a week (my dream come true). Our class had a Parents' Day, where they all came in and visited our room, which we turned into a city. There was a girl who was an aerobics instructor, a doctor, you get the idea. Well, my Dad always took me to the bank with him, and the teller always gave me lollipops, so I wanted to be the bank teller. I handed out tokens to all of the parents who came in, so they could give their tokens away at each stop. Of course, being an "artist," I made my own sign, and you can see that at five years old, n's were confusing. Oh well. Don't be misled by this picture: math was my worst subject and counting/collecting money to or from people gave me panic attacks (still does). But I thought tellers were soooooooo glamorous (and you can tell by my expression in the picture).

I'm cheating and including an old dance picture. It was too good to pass up. This dance was "Me and My Teddy Bear." We brought our own teddy bears to dance with. My mom and Nana absolutely died (or were "chawed" as Kelly would say) because I didn't pick one of the million white, feminine bears that I had at home; I just had to choose the "ugly brown one." You win some, you lose some. But I don't think anyone noticed my bear, because my bow was so big.

And this is just because I think it's pretty much hilarious:
This was taken when we lived in Orlando (yes, as in the same city as Disney World--I was living my dream at age four). That's me, on the left. I'd like to point out that I'm wearing a full-skirted slip, a winter muff that matched a coat of mine, and a purple tutu on my head. I'm not sure how I ended up with a tutu on my head, where my friend only managed a tennis visor; what gives? Pretty sure Tim Gunn would be impressed. I was "making it work," people. And actually....I've seen a lot of "high fashion" outfits that look like this. So I was ahead of the trend. Way ahead.I think I'm going to start putting up some of the old pictures I scanned every week or so---this has been fun! Don't worry---I'll find some legit school pictures. You're about to see and learn a lot more about me, and you won't be disappointed! :o)

Ashley,
I am so glad I found your blog through Kelly's Korner. It's wonderful! The pictures were fabulous. I loved the one with the tutu on your head. A very creative use of materials for a hat! My husband grew up in Collinsville, OK...I thinks that pretty close to Broken Arrow. Anyway, I look forward to visiting again soon.
Awww! Love the "dancing with your bear" shot. Adorable!
I LOVE your dance picture! I'm going to have to dig through my mom's old photos. Somewhere, I have some just like it.
Thanks for sharing!

Love the pics! We lived in Broken Arrow too and my daughter's went to pre-school there. Where did you go? My oldest is 25 so she might have been there when you were. And we all love Disney too, just went in August and joined the Disney Vacation Club.
I'm sure the teddy bear dance was so cute to watch. But most of all I wanted to say that I think the fur muff REALLY completes the picture!
