I decided to start a project. I know you're shocked.
But this is different, in a really cool way. When Kurt and I were visiting Asheville and the Biltmore last year (which the Duggars recently went and saw, thankyouverymuch), we came across a little flip book. It's called To the Best of My Recollection: A Daily Journal of Childhood Memories. For each day of the year, there's a sentence, question, or prompt to answer, and the finished product is a very good compilation of memories, stories, etc. It's actually for an older person to use to pass down to their relatives (I am going to have my grandparents do something like this), but I figured that since I've already been through my childhood, why not start now when the memories are relatively fresh?
So, I'm being vulnerable and letting you know that this will be in blog form. There was a part of me that wanted to keep this private, but if someone else were doing this, I'd want to be able to read it. So, you can find the blog here.
I was going to start on January 1st, but I know there will be some days when I'm out of pocket so I think it will all even out just fine.
By the way, if you'd like to answer the questions too, please let me know so I can read along. I think it's a great project, and don't you want to record your story?
Cheers to recollections and memories!

What a great idea! I'm going to check it right now- thanks for letting us know :)
I love this idea! I actually just went and ordered the book for myself and the grandmother version as well to give as a Christmas present! Thank you soo much for sharing! I cannot wait to read your posts!
I LOVE stuff like this, but you probably know that about me, right? I got Peyton a very similar book called "Dad Remembers" and the grandfather one for my dad. They are wonderful and I think I'm going to get one for myself one day, too!
I love it! What a neat idea :) Did you know that you can also turn your blog into a bound book? Snapfish does it and they look really neat.
This is such a splendid idea. I think I might just have to buy that book so that I can participate.
By the way. I am new reader of your blog and I find it very inspiring.
I bought those books for each of our grandparents years ago. When Grandpa died last year, Grandma gave the book back to us. He hadn't filled it out completely, but the things he did write were very special. Our other grandparents haven't been very cooperative--they say "Oh, why would anyone want to know about me." or "I don't know what I'd write." I think it's a wonderful thing--I just might fill one out myself.
