Urgent Prayer Request

I usually don't write anything sad or depressing on this blog, but sometimes there is such a need for prayer that I have to ask you to join me.

Noah is a precious 5 month old little boy who was shaken by his daycare provider. He is in the hospital and in the intensive care unit. His parents, Mike and Erin, are trying to stay positive in the midst of this horrific tragedy.

Here is the comment that I left for them on their website. I share this so that we can claim these verses for little Noah.

I am completely and totally in awe of your strength in the midst of this storm! I have a 3 month old, and I had tears in my eyes reading about your beyond-painful ordeal. I must admit that my first human reaction is extreme anger that this had to happen to Noah. However, as a Believer, I know that God works all things together for good to those who love Him (Romans 8:28). He is Great Physician, and he is hiding little Noah in the shadow of His wings while you wait (Psalm 91). There is a tender verse in the Bible that I have for you:

“When the Lord saw her[them], his heart overflowed with compassion. ‘Don’t cry!’ he said.” Luke 7:13 NLT

Know that His heart is overflowing with compassion for you and for Noah. He will wipe away the tears from your faces (Isaiah 25:8). I am claiming these verses for you and that Noah will be anointed with His healing power.

Will you claim these verses with me for Noah? I don't share this story to depress you; and from reading their blog, I know that's not what Mike and Erin want. But they are asking for as many prayers as possible, and as Christians, we are called to lift people, especially precious, innocent children, up in prayer to the Lord. I urge you to pray for this family and for this precious little life. God is faithful and He knows what the future holds!

Home Love

Recently, I've had some fun sprucing up a few things in the house. Even though we're only going to be here one more year before we move, I still wanted to add just a few more things. Now I think I'm content....for at least a month :o) Haha! No, I really do think these are the finishing touches until we move into our next house in Missouri. So here's what I've done recently:

This is the Happy Little Corner I talked about in an earlier post. I got everything at Hobby Lobby (of course) and it just looks perfect I think. You can't see it well in the picture, but there's a gold crown sitting on the table too, which pays homage to my love of all things royal. I LOVE this corner.
I put Evy's framed announcement and another framed professional picture on top of my record/music player. The little white album has a cross on it, and will hold all of the professional pictures we take with Mauri.
I was in Dillards and found this new bedding for the guest room---it ended up being about 80%off! And I used a gift card with leftover wedding credit---so it was FREE! I love the color chartreuse green...I'm on a big kick with it right now. We already had the brown upholstered headboard (my daddy and I made it), and the brown drapes were already there as well. Kurt's mom had made the Euro shams to match my other bedding, and they just go perfectly I think.

I bought this great new lamp at HL to complement everything. Also, I don't think I've ever shown you my photo collage of my great-grandmother, Vera McCarty. She was such a beauty, and I love these pictures of her. She's the reason I got the auburn hair genes :o) She passed away in 2006; but looking at these pictures makes me feel like we were a lot alike. The pictures aren't extremely clear, but you'll get the idea. I love having a tribute to her in my house. Bonus: her clothes were fabulous.

And my favorite new thing: I filled the blank wall leading into our den/living room! I bought these letters and we hung them to spell LOVE. In the winter/Christmastime, they will spell NOEL (so I only had to buy 5 letters total for two different looks). On either side, we hung framed professional pictures, one from our photo session when I was pregnant, and then from Evy's newborn session. I could never figure out how to fill this big blank space, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I'm going to finish getting the house ready for tomorrow. Evy will meet Mimi and Dah (my dad's parents) for the first time, and I get to see my Daddy! Great day ahead :o)

Just a Typical Day...

Well, after a string of difficult days, it seems that today we had a better time. Evs took good naps, which is always such a help. Our schedule has been fairly consistent recently: She has an early morning feeding around 7:00 or so, and then will go back to sleep until 10:00ish. Then we officially start the day (she's like me and NOT a morning person). After she eats around 10, she'll have awake time for an hour and then she naps for an hour and a half (nap durations always fluctuate). This cycle continues all day. Evenings used to be awful...she was just really fussy and we knew she was even OVER tired, but just fighting sleep. We focused on working with her on learning to fall asleep on her own, and we've really seen the benefit of that recently. Now I'll feed her around 9:30-10:00 pm, and then I put her in her crib, and she will fall asleep (after some fussing) on her own. Then she has been sleeping (knock on wood) all night until 7:00 am! I hope I didn't just jinx that...

We've been taking walks lately and that's also when I get errands done if I have any. Usually it's just drive-thru stuff (banking, run in the post office, etc.) and she's not out in a lot of stores, but I really enjoy just driving in the sunny weather with my Disney CD on. I've discovered a lot of lovely neighborhoods and usually that will buy me some more time with Evy napping during the drive (I plan outings during her nap time so hopefully she will sleep). That kind of sums up what our routine has been like lately.

Today Kurt went back on call at 3:00...even though I hate it when he has call, I like it better during the week because he's only gone for half the day and all night. On the weekend calls he's at work from 7 am-7 pm, and it feels like FOREVER. But tonight went smoothly and that makes a HUGE difference. I enjoyed watching some Duggar Family episodes that I keep taped and it made me crave Tater Tot casserole....so I made some for lunch, and Kurt took the leftovers to work for dinner. I love the Duggars :o) I also watched my old Disney Weddings DVD that I was/still am obsessed with. It's just a promotional DVD about their wedding services, but I love it. Fun fact: I seriously considered getting married at Disney World. But the main issue was our time table (read: Kurt's insane schedule), and I would only be able to have VERY few guests. That was actually somewhat appealing to me, but I wouldn't trade the way my wedding was for the world. Sometime I'm going to get Kurt to take me to Disney World again, just the two of us, and pretend it's a honeymoon. :o) I'm telling you, the Disney Wedding DVD is awesome.

I'm working on getting the house ready and crossing things off my to-do list before the next couple of weeks....crazy schedule ahead! I feel like I have so much to do but my motivation comes in little increments...which doesn't make for much productivity. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day.

And because no post is complete without pictures....here are some I took today. I ADORE this gown that some friends of my grandparents sent Evy. It's a taupe color, which I rarely see in baby gowns, with a beautiful pale pink monogram. Oh, and the face of the little person in the gown is quite adorable as well :o)

Monday, Monday....

Special thanks to my friend Tiffany for this sweet award:

The Lovely Award says the following: "These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers.

Thanks so much, Tiffany! I love the word charming. It's such a happy and convivial word :o)

I've had some long days recently...Kurt's schedule included some extra long days and nights of being on call, and Evy was just in a weird mood. But today Kurt was off work and I accomplished a lot:
-Had suspicious/annoying/really ugly spot under my chin biopsied. They don't think it's anything, but with my fair skin (I like to think of myself as Nicole Kidman- or Snow White-like, instead of pasty white) you can never be too sure.
-Painted a LOT. Go see my new pieces!
-Bought Evy's baby dedication dress. It's cream and so so pretty. I'm trying it on her tomorrow and I'm planning our outfits. I'm usually not a coordination person, but when a lot of pictures will be taken, it's nice to try.
-Bought Mother's Day cards :o)
-Put maternity clothes in Rubbermaid container for storage. SO EXCITING.
-Watched a great episode of Dancing with the Stars. Group dances are my FAVE.
-Went to one of my FAVORITE stores, Hobby-I-love-you-Lobby, and got some seriously cute lamps. One is for the guest bedroom, and the other is the PERFECT addition to my corner table in our dining area. I love it when you don't even realize something is missing until you find just the right thing to put there. I keep staring so happily at that little corner.

I'm off to bed...I have a ton I need to accomplish in the next few days. My grandparents (Daddy's parents) are coming to meet Evy for the first time and some of my aunts and cousins will be in town as well, which is a rare little treat. Spring is so busy and lovely. Have a great evening!

Happy Friday

Hi everyone...

It's been a good day so far with my sweet girl. I dropped off more orders at UPS to ship out (I've been busy!) and then went by Hobby Lobby. Can I give God some praise for that store? I love it. Somehow, I only managed to come out with 3 frames (50% off!). I decided to spruce up the mantle.

Before, I had kind of a silvery/glass theme going on:

Now, I put the silvery/glass frames on the entry table to match the starburst mirror, and put the new frames on the mantle. They're a combination of silver, gold, and blackish/brown. I also framed some black and whites of Evy, and the one on the far right is a close-up of Kurt's grandparents' hands holding Evy's. It's just one of those pictures that deserves a frame. I love how it turned out!

Evy Katie (as I call her) looked adorable in her little "E" onesie that my good friend Julie gave her, as well as some dark-wash jeans. How fashionable! ;o)

I wanted to show you Evy's birth announcement, for those of you who haven't seen it (we were only able to send out so many!). I loved how it turned out. I used Tiny Prints, and I highly recommend this company. We had a mix-up with our deliveryman, and TP's customer service was impeccable. I actually found this birth announcement before I even got pregnant, and after searching around, I couldn't find anything that I loved nearly as much. So here it is!

Kurt texted me today with a surprise--he suggested we go eat Mexican food tonight! Thankfully, Evy does pretty well at our favorite place, and it's close to home in case she just isn't in the dining mood. We had a bad experience eating out at PF Chang's the other night--it involved eating in shifts and wolfing down our food--but we are going to climb back on the horse and try again!

I do have a favor to ask. On the left side of the page, you'll see a box where it shows the "followers" of this blog. I know some people don't comment or let me know they're reading, but it's encouraging to know that people actually read what I write. Could you click on the button that says "Follow" for me? It would just be an encouragement to see that I actually have an audience. My artistry website has more followers than my personal blog---that can't be accurate! Haha! So could you do that for me if you read? Thanks a million!

Have a great weekend :o)

30 Day.....TORTURE

I'm a sucker for marketing. Seriously, I have a problem. If a company hires a slam-dunk marketing person, I will probably buy their product (within reason). So, of course I've heard the hype about this DVD:

And, of course, I bought it.

Now...I really don't expect to look like Jillian. Ever. But some serious toning needs to happen with my body. If you'll recall, one of my 101 goals is to be confident in a swimsuit. Granted, it might be the long-sleeved skirted variety, but ded gum it, I want to be confident in it.

So I tried Level 1 just a minute ago, and I think I might have completed something along the lines of Level .25---my body was about to call social services and report abuse. Better luck tomorrow....or 3 days from now.

And on top of that, I was dealing with serious distractions:

Doesn't it look like she was laughing at me?

Quick Hello

Hi everyone :o)

It's been awhile since I've posted! It's been really busy around here. I've been doing a lot of canvas orders, and taking care of my sweet girl.

We have something very exciting coming up: my great friend Anne from Tyler, Texas is coming to see us for a few days!! Evy and I can't wait to spend time with her and have fun. For some weird reason, this is the only picture I have of me and Anne...from my wedding! We'll have to fix that when she comes.

We are gearing up to go to Cape again in early May for Andrea's "Cinderella" performance, Fiddler on the Roof, and baby dedication--whew! It's going to be a busy trip, but so much fun.

This wasn't a very long post, but I'm going to try and grab a shower before my little person wakes up---she's so adorable, I can't stand it. I'll leave you with a picture from yesterday, entitled "Naturally Chic."

More Pictures!

Today we went to our church for the first time on a Sunday with Evy...she slept through the whole service...yay! She woke up a little bit into Lifegroup, and we had to leave a few minutes early, but overall, I think she did great! Today was also a big day at our church because the new pastor, Jimmy Meek, preached in view of a call. He did a wonderful job and we know God will bless his ministry here.

When we got home I put Evy in her new onesie and she was putting on a SHOW! She loves to smile at us and make us melt. Again, I know these are all very similar but I love each and every picture.

These are some special ones that I took. I was experimenting with the close-up setting on my camera, and it gave me an excuse to document my precious little girl when she's still little.

And my favorites...

Have a great evening :o)

Mommy's Photo Shoot

Today Evy was just smiling away at me so much, I HAD to capture it on camera! A lot of these are similar, but I just couldn't pick and choose between them. I hope they make you as happy as they make me!

Random Goodies

Today has been so nice---Kurt is post call, and he kept Evy while I got to run out and do some things! I was able to see a beautiful new baby boy that was born to a couple in our Lifegroup class at church...so fun! I was also able to sneak to Lifeway (one of my favorite places, listen to the soft instrumental music and read. It was wonderful. I bought a new book by Vickie Courtney (who I LOVE), a new Beth Moore study to start (Esther!), and a new Praise Baby DVD for Evers (her new nickname that my mom gave her and we love). It's the Christian version of Baby Einstein, which we have also, and I think she likes it (granted, she sits there in her bouncy seat regardless of what's going on around her, but it can't hurt to have Christian music going on, right?). I love Lifeway.

I have something SUPER CUTE to show you! Look what my mom bought me:

Okay, I admit it: it's for Evy. Technically. But I adore it so much, I'll get JUST as much happiness out of it! Isn't it just magical? I lovelovelove it.

In other news, I am close to crossing off a big item on my 101: May 9th is our Fiddler on the Roof show!! I am so excited to see Topol perform and get quality time with Kurt and my Poppy. It's going to be awesome! Another item to cross off: I've been making a list of 100 things that make me happy. It's really therapeutic for some reason, and I encourage everyone to do it. There's something about writing down things that make your life happy. Love it. I'll be posting my "Happiness List" soon.

I've been meaning to show you some things I bought on Etsy recently. So cute! The Cinderella image is screenprinted on a little puff-sleeve T-shirt. The little onesie says "I'm as sweet as they make 'em!" Evy is going to look adorable in these when she's a little older!

Finally....drumroll, please...
I somehow, by a miracle of God, got tickets to see.......

WICKED!!!!!!!! Yes, I nabbed tickets for me and Kurt to this amazing show that I've been DYING to see. It's the prequel to the Wizard of Oz, and I am so pumped I can't stand it. The best part? My parents are going too!!! So that's going to be a highlight of the year I'm sure. I still can't believe it.

Well, the Praise Baby DVD is ending and I just have to cuddle my little girl...she smells so good :o)
