Shabby Chic in Texas

I promised awhile ago to do a post showing you how beautiful neutrals can be. My Aunt Karen (my dad's sister) has such a talent for decorating, and she has a style that's distinctly hers. We both love "shabby chic," and she's mixed in some bright accent colors perfectly--that takes talent! Here is the beautiful home of my family in Texas.

Guest Room

Beautiful at Christmastime.

Ahhh..neutrals!

I love how she has framed artwork from when my cousins were little.

A collection of glass apothecary jars.

A funky tree on the breakfast table.

"Love the Lord Thy God. . ."

Oversized ornaments in the dining room.

This is where I got my idea to spell out LOVE and then NOEL at Christmas :)

Cross wall. My mom has one too. I'm working on my collection! This was crazy, because I had decided a long time ago that I wanted to have "It is finished" written in English and Aramaic above all of the crosses. Then I came to visit and SHE had "It is finished!"

Happy little things.

I lovelovelove playing the piano in this room.

The den--such a great place to be!

See what I mean? Neutrals are NOT boring! :)

I LOVE neutrals too! My kitchen is being painted Macadamia next week and I cannot wait. It's green now and it looks crazy depending on the light. Neutrals are soothing and you can add a splash of color. Kids make neutrals a little tricky because color hides dirt! Evie has a lot of dirt!
