November is always an exciting month! We are starting Judgement House tonight at our church, which will run all week and into the weekend. It's a walk-through drama that tells a story involving a tragedy. One character has accepted Christ, and another has not. Their eternal destinies are shown in a really visual, powerful way.
I've been involved with Judgement House since 1996 or so, when we started it at Lynwood (remember, I used to live here many years ago!). We were one of the pilot churches for the ministry, and it was very successful. Lynwood has always done Judgement House every year. When we lived in Mississippi, our church only did it one year (there were comparable programs in the area). I missed it SO MUCH! It is such an amazing experience to present the gospel in a unique way.
Judgement House is NOT "Hell House," or other programs that only show Hell and try to scare people into heaven. It also doesn't depict certain "sins" and point fingers at people committing those sins. We're ALL sinners, and we ALL need a Savior! Judgement House is different because it tells a story, and then BOTH Hell and Heaven are shown. People aren't "guilted" into making a salvation decision, and it's not a high-pressure situation. I think it's very well-done and presents the gospel in a wonderful, clear way.
This year I'm a guide, meaning I'll be taking the groups through the entire drama. There's a huge responsibility in this, because guides really set the tone for the experience. But I know that it will be so rewarding. People's lives are changed at Judgement House, and I can't wait to be a part of sharing the hope of Jesus Christ with many people!
I woke up sick this morning--the enemy is already trying to attack! But I'm on meds and I'm determined to be there every night. It's too important! I feel better already, and I would just ask that you continue to pray for our church this week and we share the Lord with people.
November is also a very special month for our family now. It's National Adoption Month! I have to be honest and say that I didn't know that until we started our adoption journey. It means SO much more now! We are moving along in the process, and once I'm able to share more details, I will. We can't WAIT to see the child God has for us in South Korea!
I loved this video (which I found on Karen's blog) because it highlights mostly South Korean adopted children! There's a huge movement right now for Ethiopian adoption, but I always like to connect with blogs/people who are in our country program. Also, I've had a hard time finding general adoption t-shirts and Korean adoption t-shirts (all I've seen are Africa-themed). While I love supporting adoption in any country, it would be special to have a few Korean shirts! If you know of any for sale, let me know!
Watch this beautiful video in honor of Adoption Month!
I'll ask you again---how is God asking you to serve Him? What is He asking you to do? Don't say no to Him out of fear. The hardest part is saying "Yes!" But once you do, it's the beginning of a radical and wonderful journey (which the the theme of my dad's current sermon series!)!
Happy Adoption Month!
