Sanctity of Life Sunday was this previous Sunday. I'm too passionate about protecting the lives of the unborn to not commemorate this event and to share where my heart is on it.
First of all, this blog is a safe place. It needs to be a place of ministry. A couple of days ago, I came across this radio/podcast on a blog I read. It's one couple's story of how they have found forgiveness, hope, and freedom in Jesus Christ after the guilt and pain of having an abortion. It's a wonderful, uplifting story that I encourage EVERYONE to listen to, regardless of your position on this, or whether or not you've experienced this pain.
A group of women are about to start a teen pregnancy/mom Bible study and ministry here at our local high school. I'm praying about how I need to be involved with this. If I can encourage just one girl to save her baby's life, perhaps choose adoption, or encourage those girls who are keeping their babies to raise them in the godly shelter of a church community, and in the way of the Lord.
I've always been passionate about this issue, but now that we're adopting a child, I'm even MORE eager to tell these sweet girls/women, who are carrying a precious life, that there are countless couples that ache for a baby to love and cherish. I'm personally friends with an amazing, godly, loving, fun couple who are still praying for God to bring a child into their lives.
I don't often say things this direct on my blog, but when I feel led to write something, I do. If you are in the position of an unwanted pregnancy and are considering ending that pregnancy and life, contact me immediately. You have other options! If you are struggling with the pain and guilt of having a past abortion, email me. It's a safe place, without judgment. God wants to bring you peace and healing.
As we think about the sanctity of life, know that this isn't a political statement I'm making. This is the fundamental belief that I have that God individually knits us together in our mother's wombs, and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made! We are His masterpieces! Every life is a treasure to our God.
I hope this post has touched at least one person, or at least reminded those of you who read that we need to be incredibly sensitive, forgiving, and loving to girls/women in this situation.
God has a plan for your life and your child's!
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:13-16
